It’s no surprise that many women are participating more in shooting, hunting, hiking, and all kinds of activities that used to be considered only “Men’s interests.” Because of this, most clothing and gear appropriate for women with these interests was usually only to be found in small and extra small sizes of men’s clothing.
Luckily, we have many more options available to use today. Companies have finally embraced the fact that there is a legitimate market in women’s clothing and gear for these activities and have amped up their offerings.
Since I’m one of the ladies in the generation experiencing both sides of the spectrum, I wanted to share some great “Everyday Gear” that I have found to be of excellent quality, allowing me to embrace my active lifestyle with confidence and more importantly comfort, because yes, I’m at that age now where comfort trumps a lot of other factors.
We the People Defender Tactical Leggings
It’s no surprise that women LOVE leggings they are the ultimate pant for us. I love hiking in leggings but haven’t for many years because it wasn’t a viable option. I never hike or do many things for that matter without carrying, and it’s impossible to carry in leggings.
Not anymore. There are many companies offering leggings allowing women to carry safely while wearing. These specific tactical leggings are soft and feature moisture-wicking material. They also have the BEST pockets, like really deep ones that your phone will fit in, about time, right?!
You will find they have a few options so you can customize what you choose. They are available with or without belt loops, and they are available as full-length shorts or capris. Did I mention they are made of a 4-way stretch material? Ya, it’s the good kind that keeps everything tucked in where you want it. Lastly, the best part, they are Made In The USA!!!
We The People Tactical Gun Belt with Talon Buckle
They claimed this would be the ultimate gun belt for concealed carry, and I figured I’d order it when I ordered my tactical leggings.
I LOVE the buckle on this belt and the adjustable velcro strap to lock it down. This belt also features an elastic mag carrier. I like this because I can skip my mag holster and wear only my pistol holster without giving up carrying an extra mag along with me.
Mystery Ranch Women’s Coulee
This pack is always in my vehicle and loaded with my gear for day hikes. I have to say the classic Mystery Ranch 3-ZIP design will spoil you as it’s so easy to get to whatever you have at the bottom of your pack.
This one has plenty of outside pockets, so my water bottles fit snuggly and don’t flip around on me. This pack also features a waist belt with pockets and a chest strap.
LOWA Renegade GTX MID Boots
I’ve been wearing LOWA boots for many years. I’m familiar with them and have many pairs for different climates and conditions. The Renegades are my “main go-to’s” for my day hikes. They grip perfectly on rugged terrain but are also comfortable enough to keep wearing when I need to head into town to run some errands or grab food.
I’d have to say my favorite feature of these boots is the VIBRAM Evo sole, giving me that confidence as I navigate over all kinds of terrain. When you have had four ankle surgeries, you need boots that do their job.
Banana Republic Fisherman Cable-Knit Sweater
I wear this durable sweater on the cooler fall and winter days when a coat is not needed. I layer underneath with a good base layer, and this sweater keeps me at the perfect temperature when I’m out day hiking. It hangs at an ideal length to conceal my pistol (I carry AIWB), and I can quickly move it to the side for quick access to my firearm. This sweater gets a LOT of use from me.
